Bus THACO plant put into operation

(QNO) - Bus THACO plant under Truong Hai Auto Company (THACO) in Chu Lai (Nui Thanh district, Quang Nam province) was put into operation on December 8. This plant is the largest of its kind in Southeast Asia.

The plant is considered as the important start of Vietnam’s automotive industry. It covers an area of more than 17ha including 8ha-production zone with the total capital investment of VND 7,000 billion and its capacity of 20,000 buses per year.

The plant is equipped with modern and semi-automatic production lines such as hi-tech outsourcing machines, automatic welding robots and chain system. Especially, the 10-basin automatic electrostatic painting line enables to soak a 14m-body cover of car. It is the unique electrostatic painting line in Southeast Asia and one of 22 largest of its kind in the world. The Bus THACO plant actualizes the Vietnam’s development strategy of automotive industry by 2025 and vision to 2035, the sustainable development strategy in the period of ASEAN integration from 2018 on and waiting in front for inevitable trend of industry 4.0.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the plant on December 8, Vietnam’s Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung affirmed THACO makes an important contribution to the national automotive industry, socio-economic growth in general and provincial budget in particular. Besides, more than 8,000 skillful labourers are given employment opportunities.

According to Chairman of THACO Tran Ba Duong, the product development strategy “Vietnam trade name- Self-confidence in the integration” started with THACO-Vietnam bus, which will be exported to ASEAN countries in 2018. On the occasion of the bus THACO plant put into operation, THACO signed agreements with partners to export its products to Thailand, Taiwan, the Philippines, and Cambodia with 1,150 buses of sales, at least 550 units in 2018.
