Launching of the new Peugeot 2008

The new SUV model of Peugeot 2008 was introduced to public by THACO (Truong Hai Auto Corporation) on December 12, 2020. Present at the event was Deputy Chairman of the Quang Nam provincial People's Committee Nguyen Hong Quang.

Besides launching the new Peugeot 2008, THACO announced a strategic cooperation agreement on manufacturing Peugeot motorcycles and introduced the Peugeot Django motorcycle model.

Since THACO-Peugeot copperation started in 2013, the French Lion brand has become familiar to Vietnamese customers. The Peugeot models assembled and manufactured in THACO Chu Lai are of the same quality as those produced in France.

The new SUV Peugeot 2008 includes 2 versions, GT Line and Active, in 6 different colours. Its dimensions are 4,300mm long, 1,770mm wide, the wheelbase of 2,605mm and the ground clearance of 175mm.

On this occasion, THACO Chu Lai and Peugeot announced their cooperative strategy for technology transfer in motorcycle production and assembly towards ASEAN markets and others such as Taiwan, Hong Kong and Australia.

The motorcycle model of Peugeot Django was also introduced at the event. It is now distributed in Vietnam in 7 different clolours.

However, the Peugeot Django, which is manufactured and assembled in the Chu Lai Industrial Park, will be exported to Thailand, Malaysia, the Phillipines and Taiwan in 2021 and others overseas markets.

Giving a speech at the event, Nguyen Hong Quang, on behalf of Quang Nam province, congratulated on THACO’s success. The launching of new vehicle models and the export of vehicles showed the position of Vietnamese automotive industry in the world market.

Moreover, THACO has been successful in the dual goal achievement: both Covid-19 prevention and economic development.

Mr. Quang also said that Quang Nam authorities would always accompany and support THACO, facilitating the company’s investment and development.
