All parts of the ginseng tree are useful and very expensive; therefore Ngoc Linh ginseng has high economic value. One hectare of ginseng can generate up to 40 billion VND after five to seven years. This has considerably helped the local ethnic minorities to improve their living standards.

In the sacred land of Ngoc Linh mountain, the ginseng lives in harmony with the jungle, relying on the jungle to spring up and prosper, which means expanding the ginseng cultivation area must be in parallel with expanding the scope of natural forest. For this reason, local residents have raised themselves a really high awareness of forest protection and already set the strict rules against deforestation.

In short, Ngoc Linh ginseng demonstrates three core values that cannot be found in any other botanic species: the medicinal value of health promotion, the economic value and the value of a sustainable green living environment. It is the reason for the Prime Minister’s approval for Ngoc Linh original ginseng conservation and development, on which the local governments base their favorable measures on the ginseng cultivation. Quang Nam currently licensed 6 enterprises to study and survey 1,500 ha of forest area. These firms have committed to build a ginseng processing plant in the area to create the competitive value chain on the market.
