(QNO) - The 4th session of the Quang Nam provincial People’s Council started on December 7 in order to assess the provincial socio-economic situation in 2021.
According to Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Le Tri Thanh, the measures for the Covid-19 prevention and control need to be continuously implemented strictly.
At the same time, it is necessary to recover socio-economic activities, including working out economic recovery plans and restructuring the economy, improving the provincial autonomy, adaptability, competitiveness for rapid and sustainable socio-economic development.
In particular, the southeast region of Quang Nam will be built as a linkage of urban areas, centres for tourism and services, clean industry, and high-tech agriculture.
Tourism and services also need recovering and it should safely adapt to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Quang Nam also builds several plans for its socio-economic development such as the project on sustainable development of the Central Key Economic Zone in adaptation to natural disasters and climate change, a master programme of sustainable forest protection and development in combination with effective economic development, specific mechanisms for the preservation and restoration of the world cultural heritages of Hoi An ancient town and My Son Sanctuary, the plans for the development of the Chu Lai Open Economic Zone and inter-regional transport network for the provincial socio-economic recovery.
Along with economic development strategies and plans, Quang Nam also focuses on human development, ensuring social security, welfare, social justice, the harmony of material and spiritual life; taking care of the disadvantaged, the poor, and meritorious people.
Socio-economic development in mountainous areas
Also in this session, the plan for socio-economic development in the mountainous areas of Quang Nam in the period of 2021-2025, with a vision to 2030 was approved.
It focuses on three zones including Dong Giang, Tay Giang and Nam Giang in the north, Nong Son, Hiep Duc and Tien Phuoc in the midland, and Phuoc Son, Nam Tra My, and Bac Tra My in the south.
There are 6 important projects to be carried out. They include population arrangement and accommodation stabilization adapting to natural disasters and climate change, forest protection and development for biodiversity conservation associated with economic development from forests and non-timber forest products, agricultural economic growth in combination with community-based tourism development, high-quality hotels and resorts, preservation and promotion of local cultural values, and infrastructure development.
Moreover, there will be some other policies to help the mountainous areas develop based on the analysis and assessment of advantages and disadvantages of these areas.
