THACO – a new BMW distributor in Vietnam

(QNO) - According to an announcement on September 12th from BMW Group Asia, Truong Hai Auto Corporation (THACO) was selected as the new importer and distributor of its BMW and MINI models in Vietnam from January 1st, 2018 on.

BMW Group Asia will end its four-year contract with Sime Darby Motors, backed by European Automobile Corporation (EAC). Managing Director of BMW Group Asia Paul de Courtois said that customers are the group’s top priority and EAC will continue to provide high-quality after-sales services for current customers of BMW, MINI and BMW Motorrad in Vietnam until the new announcement.

The BMW Group owns three brand names, BMW, MINI, and Rolls-Royce. It is the world's leading automobile and motorcycle manufacturer, and also the provider of financial and mobile services. The BMW Group controls 30 manufacturing and assembly establishments in 14 countries and its distribution network in over 140 countries. The success of the BMW Group is based on its responsibility for the socio-ecological sustainability and the conservation of resources.

THACO is now the largest private company in Vietnam. It has also held the market share of 40-42% among members of the Vietnamese Automobile Manufacturer Association since 2015. THACO’s production base is in Chu Lai Open Economic Zone (Quang Nam province), consisting of 6 assembly plants, 12 parts manufacturing plants, R&D (research and development) centres, a vocational college, and seaports in an area of 400 hectares. Its retail dealer system comprises of 97 showrooms and 59 agents throughout the country.
