THACO bus: Vietnam brand name


(QNO) - The inauguration of a new THACO bus plant and the bus export agreements to Thailand, Taiwan and Cambodia by Truong Hai Automobile Joint Stock Company (THACO) located in Quang Nam province last year resulted from the strategy of product development “Vietnam brand name: confident in integration”.

THACO started to research bus manufacturing with its own technology in 2005. In June 2011, the first THACO bus plant was established, and also the first of its kind in Vietnam. THACO is at the leading position nationwide to export bus to the Southeast Asian region. Another bus plant with a capacity of 20,000 units (including 8,000 buses and mini buses)  per year was put into operation in December 2017. It is the largest and most modern bus plant in the region to date. The plant is equipped with modern and semi-automatic production lines such as hi-tech outsourcing machines, automatic welding robots and chain system. Especially, the 10-basin automatic electrostatic painting line enables to soak a 14m-body cover of car. It is the unique electrostatic painting line in Southeast Asia and one of 22 largest of its kind in the world.

Besides, in March 2018, THACO opened the biggest Mazda plant (THACO Mazda) in Southeast Asia to reach the global standard of Japan’s Mazda. This success not only creates the confidence for domestic consumers but also meets the export demands from the countries in the region. In 2018, at least 550/1,150 THACO bus will be exported. THACO is considered as the leading automobile company in Vietnam to cooperate with 7 famous auto brand names consisting of Kia, Mazda, Peugeot, BMW, Nini, BMW Motorrad and Fuso.

THACO bus meets international quality standards. It is also the Vietnamese leading brand name with a high rate of localization. THACO has had customers’ confidence in their products and is promoting bus export. According to Chairman of THACO Tran Ba Duong, with the support of the Government and their own efforts, domestic automobile branch can compete and increase its turnover in the regional market.
