Thanks to its fragrance, spicy flavour, and high oil content, Tra My cinnamon has been popular with people around the world and exported to several global countries. So, it is important to preserve the purebred Tra My cinnamon variety, raise its quality and values.
There are about 2,800 ha of cinnamon in Nam Tra My district. Its production is approximately 350 tons a year. Cinnamon is distributed throughout 10 communes in the district. So it is necessary to set up an area specializing in cinnamon cultivation. The local authorities should also give some supports to the processing and selling of cinnamon products. Currently, there are the proper strategies for cinnamon development in Nam Tra My. The local authorities have encouraged businesses to invest in processing cinnamon, improving cinnamon quality, increasing its values, speeding up advertising, and building the brand name of Tra My cinnamon. At the same time, they have also facilitated the businesses with preferential policies of loans and taxes.
In addition, the Tra My Cinnamon Association has been founded to help solve everything related to cinnamon here. Hopefully, the area of cinnamon will be 6 thousand hectares in Nam Tra My district in 2020.
