The heart of a Quang Nam homeland’s businessman

(QNO) - Nguyen Van Cuong was born in 1953 in a revolutionary family in Xuyen My commune (now is Nam Phuoc town), Duy Xuyen district, Quang Nam province.

When being a child, Huong participated revolutionary activities as a communicator of a local guerilla company and helped his mother in taking care of the local revolutionary force. After that, he joined army and fought in the  district and provincial liberating force. Before national reunification, he was a soldier of the Military Zone 5. He was also a Vietnamese volunteer soldier in Cambodia war in 1976. In 1985, he went back home and worked at the People’s Committee of Tan Binh district, Ho Chi Minh city for 10 years.

Although having lived and  fought under the difficult circumstance of the war, Huong had always fulfill his duties and got many victories, one of which was his effort to kill Doan It, a staff of the CIA in Vietnam

After 30 years of working for the country, in 1995, Huong retired and  went enter the trading field. In 1996, he was deputy director of the Anh Cuong Construction and Services company Ltd. Since 1998, Cuong has been director. He is also a member of the Vietnamese Veteran Association of Tan Binh district.

Huong has participated charitable work for many years. Deeply in his compassionate heart, he always wants to share the disadvantages and difficulties  of the poor. Many people had seen him on the ways to remote places and rural regions in over the country to bring “the heating air of a heart” to the poor and  unhappy lives.

In past years, although living and trading  in Ho Chi Minh city - a nearly 1,000km far from Quang Nam province, Huong has always remembered his Quang native land, where he was born and grew up with his ancestor, relatives and unforgettable beautiful memories of the childhood.

He has comeback Quang Nam every year to visit relatives, friends and take part in the social and charity works. He donated and mobilized his friends (who was  born in Quang Nam province) to contribute money to build Nam Phuoc Cultural and Traditional House and houses to present his old companions in army, helped the poor people in Ben Tre, Long An province, Ho Chi Minh city and Duy Xuyen district as well as participating the Urban Concretization Program in Duy xuyen district…
