Japanese friends

The delegation from the Japan-Vietnam Peace and Friendship Promotion Council (JVPF) of Saitama Prefecture (Japan) led by writer, Vice President of JVPF Hiramatsu Tomoko visited Quang Nam last August. The aim of their visit was to continue the humane 6-year-old project on charity homes for the victims of Agent Orange/ Dioxin. Up to now, there have been 30 houses repaired and built. Ms. Hiramatsu Tomoko hoped to build 50 charity houses for the victims of Agent Orange/ Dioxin in the future.

Another project that is considered as a long-term and effective one is the NGO-JICA Partnership programme sponsored by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and Minamiboso city (Japan) since 2009. Rest stops, agricultural value chain, selling handicrafts and agricultural products in Quang Nam and Hanoi, etc. are among the programs under the project. More importantly, Quang Nam people in the project areas have chance to learn about Japanese methods.

Expanding the friendship

Over the last 15 years, nearly 2,000 experts, researchers and students from over 20 countries and territories have visited Quang Nam, working and carrying out their projects and volunteer activities here. QUFO has also sent more than 20 delegations (about 185 researchers) to 10 different countries in the world.

Quang Nam has always maintained, protected, looked after and promoted the traditional friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos in general, Quang Nam and Se Kong in particular. The QUFO has also organized the programs of visiting the old battlefield, and returning to traditional moral values in the Lower Laotian Resistance Zone in Phu Ninh district, the annual humanitarian programs in Se Kong Province. All of them have left a deep mark on the friendship between two countries and two provinces.

Paying more attention to foreign affairs, especially to exchange among people, Vice Chairman of the Quang Nam provincial People's Committee, President of QUFO Le Van Thanh suggested promoting the cooperation with its partners, expanding and developing more relations with new ones. At the same time, foreign non-governmental activities should be attached to exchanges among people through the aids of foreign non-governmental and governmental organizations, individuals, and the overseas Vietnamese of Quang Nam.
