Construction of Da Nang - Quang Ngai Expressway begins

(QNO) - A groundbreaking ceremony for implementation the bidding construction package A4 of the Quang Ngai - Da Nang Expressway Development Project was held on November 24 in Ha Trung village, Tinh Ha commune (Son Tinh District, Quang Ngai) by  Viet Nam Expressway Corporation (VEC). The Politburo member, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc attended and ordered to start the project.

The construction package A4 with 14.6 km long passing two districts Binh Son and Son Tinh (Quang Ngai) will be executed by the Korean Lotte Construction & Engineering Co., Ltd. This is the first construction package to use the capital supported  by the World Bank and  the first bidding package of the project to be build in  Quang Ngai province as well.

Giving a speech at the groundbreaking ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc emphasized that the Da Nang - Quang Ngai expressway is an important transportation route linking the economic centers of the Central. It is also the motive force for socio-economic development, national defense and security and  people's better lives. “The construction unit should do as promised. The consulting unit should predict the natural disasters, increase accountability for monitoring to ensure the works quality and progress,” said Deputy Prime Minister.

The Da Nang - Quang Ngai Expressway with140 km long  will connects to National Highway 1. The width will be 26 meter, including four lanes for vehicles to run at a speed of 120 kph. The project is invented USD 1,472 million, in which the construction package A4 will be 1,3 billion VND and 36 months of construction.

Upon completion, the expressway will shorten the travel time between Da Nang, Quang Nam and Quang Ngai, help reduce traffic overload on National Highway 1, and enable international transportation between Laos, Cambodia, and Vietnam through the East-West corridor to a number of seaports in central Vietnam.
