Quang Nam, one rich province of bio-diversity, has 1,129 species of flora, 50 mammal species, 22 bat species, 270 species of bird…The gray-shanked douc (Pygathrix cinerea) and Sao La (Pseudoryx nghetinhensis) are two global important  mammal populations.

Besides, the underwater fauna and flora systems are very much diversified by the species in marshes, salt-marshes and Cham islands Biosphere Reserve.

According to scientists, the richness and  diversity of Quang Nam eco-system are not only in endemic genes of rare wildlife but also in genes of traditional domestic animals and plants with high economic value and of medical trees.

Quang Nam province has planned to plant medical trees in mountainous regions. It is seen as a breakthrough in hunger eradication and poverty reduction. At present, Nam Tra My district authority is building a 1ha medical trees nursery garden including Campanumoea javanica Blume, Ngoc Linh ginseng, Angelica sinensis, Jiaogulan (Gynostemma Pentaphyllum), Anoectochilus Setaceus…This district is associating with some enterprises to develop products from precious medical trees. According to the plan approved, Nam Tra My district will grow about 1,910 ha of six to ten species of local medical trees. The genes of traditional domestic animal and plants are also revigorated.
