(QNO) - Mang Lung means “fog” in Xe Dang language. The village named Mang Lung belongs to hamlet 2, Tra Linh commune, Nam Tra My district, Quang Nam province. By growing Ngoc Linh ginseng- a precious medicine, Xe Dang people have escaped from poverty.

Mang Lung village is about 40 km far from the district center. It is located at the height of 2,596m on Ngoc Linh foggy mountainside where Ngoc Linh ginseng grows.
In the last 15 years, since Ngoc Linh ginseng has been domestically and internationally known, the local lives are no longer difficult. Mang Lung village has changed and been better known through public media. People here learn how to make well-to-do lives by growing and exploiting this precious medicine. Each family among the total of 50 households in Mang Lung has one or two Ngoc Linh ginseng gardens, approximately from 1,000-30,000 over 10-year-old roots. The ginsengs are grown in the old forest which is about one hour walk from the village. At present, 10 year-old ginseng fetches 3-4 million VND every 100g. ginseng roots over 100g values about 4-5 million VND/ 100g.
The Ngoc Linh ginseng conservation and development bring remarkable economic benefit to Xe Dang people in Mang Lung. Some households’ annual income is from 100 million VND to one billion VND. Especially, the local residents’ solidarity has been cemented. Xe Dang families shared their ginseng variety and experience together for a comfortable life.
When the national project of ginseng is deployed in the coming time, the systems of transportation, National Grid, communications will be invested and Mang Lung will more develop, attracting tourists and scientists to fanciful village in Ngoc Linh mountain.
