(QNO) - The inauguration ceremony of the Green One UN (United Nations) House in Vietnam was held in Ha Noi, on 23rd May 2015. It’s an significant event to mark the 70th anniversary of the UN’s founding.

UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon and Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh attended the event.
The Green One UN House in Vietnam - one of the six pillars of "Delivering as One" reform in Viet Nam. Other pillars include One Plan, One Budget, One Leader, One Set of Management Practices, and One Voice.
The house was built in 2013, with a total investment of over 9 million USD, funded by Norway, Spain, Switzerland, the UK, Finland, Australia, New Zealand and Saudi Arabia. With high-standard building materials and thermal insulation, the house will help reduce 25 percent of energy demands.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy PM, FM Mr Pham Binh Minh affirmed that the house has been built on the solid foundation and vivid reflection the excellent cooperation between Vietnam and the UN during nearly four decades. It is also the embodiment of Viet Nam’s strong commitment to the work of the UN, constitutes the country’s commitments to the reform of the UN development system.
With this house and many other measures to implement the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, Vietnam is actively joining hands with the international community for global actions in this momentous year of 2015.
He also expressed his belief that the House will become the “center for knowledge and collaboration, for inspiration and action” to support the sustainable development in Viet Nam, in the interest of each and every Vietnamese.
Stating at the ceremony, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon affirmed that Vietnam has proved to be one of the pioneers in the reform of the UN and in building the Green One UN House, the common house for all UN offices in the country.
