Hoi An city hosts national tourism conference 2016

(QNO) - Vietnam has not become a country of tourism yet though it is rich in tourism potentials; tourism has also not been a spearhead economic sector here. Don’t let tourists never comeback after leaving Vietnam. The judgment was made by Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc at the national conference on tourism development held in Hoi An city on 9th August, 2016.

Needing association and cooperation

More than 45 ideas presented in the conference showed that Vietnam is owning rich and diversified tourism resources. The total number of international tourists came to Vietnam from 2010-2015 increased by more than 157 percent compared to the previous period. However, the similarities of tourism potentials, the lack of supporting entertainment services as well as the shortage of localities’ priority policies on tourism development have made tourism products rather like and monotonous.

Besides, according to Mr Nguyen Ngoc Thien, Minister of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, there has been a lack of a comprehensive association and cooperation in regional or interlocality  tourism development for a long time.  Tourism service qualities have not met tourists’ minimum demands. Prices of accommodations and services are not stable, particularly in the tourist season. The values of national culture and history have not been turned into advantage absolutely. The orientation of building responsible and sustainable community-based tourism has not been clearly expressed.

Regulations enforced

Speaking at the conference, PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc asked all the branches and localities to overcome the weaknesses of the tourism sector in the past and develop it into a spearhead economic sector of the country in the combination with the others. One of the necessary resolutions is how to create and  apply reasonable mechanisms to increase the contribution of tourism to the GDP from 6.6% to 10%…
He advised Vietnam’s tourism to study the tourism achievements of some regional countries such as Thailand, Singapore, and Malaysia; review the difficulties and sufficiency to find out some specific resolutions to tourism development. He also suggested State management create conditions for tourist companies to grow, promote brand names and ensure good services qualities to attract tourists…
