“The traditional weaving craft village of Nam Giang’s highlanders, along with being preserved, has been restored by setting up weaving models and step by step opening its market to improve  highlanders’ income”, said Mr Tran Du- Head of Nam Giang Department of Culture and Sport. The introduction of craft products and   some competitions of brocade weaving…have been organised in this district to gradually revive the ethnic minorities’ traditional crafts,  raising the products’ value and attracting visitors via community tourism.

According to Mr Tran Du, the connection of the local authority and native residents with the markets and tourists is very important to sustainably stabilize the product value. Za Ra weaving craft village (Ta Bhing) is considered as a model to create its trade name and its common replication in other localities in accordance with every local, every group of people. The propaganda, beside some competitions, for raising awareness of the traditional craft product values among the locals, especially young generations- the main of village culture has been attached special importance.

According to Ms Zoram who comes from 49B hamlet, Dac Pring commune, the youngest artisan in the traditional brocade weaving competition in the 3rd Nam Giang Gong Cultural Festival, weaving product values would be raised along with the increase of locals’ awareness. This was also a chance to revive traditional crafts in Nam Giang’s ethnic minorities.
