(QNO) - The exhibition of maps, documents themed “Spratly (Truong Sa) and Paracel (Hoang Sa) of Vietnam- Historical and legal evidence” was jointly organized in Duy Xuyen district Center for Culture and Sports by the Quang Nam provincial Department of Communication and Information and Duy Xuyen ditstrict People’s Committee.

According to the Organization Board, these materials have been assessed. They are the historical and legal evidence of Vietnam’s sovereignty over the Spratly and Paracel archipelagoes, especially published in Vietnam and many other countries from the 16th century on.

These precious materials consisting of the versions of writings in Han-Nom, Vietnamese and French were promulgated from the 17th to the early 20th century by the Vietnam’s feudal dynasties and French government in Indochina. Especially, there are the Nguyen dynasty’s official documents from Gia Long to Bao Dai emperors directly relating to managing, exploiting, setting up and enforcing sovereignty over Spratly and Paracel archipelagoes; a collection of maps published by the Western countries and Viet Nam from the 17th century on proving Vietnam’s sovereignty over these two archipelagoes; and a collection of maps of China without Spratly and Paracel over historical periods promulgated by Chinese government.

According to Deputy Director of the provincial Department of Communication and Information Vo Van Tho, the exhibition aims to strengthen the Vietnamese solidarity and responsibilities for the sacred national sovereignty over sea and islands and help international people including the Chinese to understand the historical truth, Vietnamese legitimate expectation of maintaining peace and stability in the East sea.
