(QNO) - The groundbreaking ceremony of THACO-Mazda Automobile Manufacturing Factory was held at the Truong Hai Auto Industrial Zone (Nui Thanh district, Quang Nam province) on the afternoon of 26 March.

Present at the ceremony were Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Central and local leaders and the leadership of Truong Hai Auto Cooperation (THACO).
At the ceremony, Mr. Tran Ba Duong, THACO’s Chairman of the Board talked about THACO’s development strategy for a multi-industry corporation with the key of automobile manufacture, and with competitive ability in the period of ASEAN integration in 2018. The Mazda Automobile Manufacturing and Assembly Factory is an important link in the chain of strategy. Its capacity will be 100,000 units per year (the 1st phase: 50,000 units/year). A total capital of VND12,000 billion (equivalent to USD520 million) will be invested into the factory which covers an area of 35ha. It is expected to come into operation in April, 2018.
According to Mr. Duong, the THACO-Mazda Automobile Factory is equipped with the most modern automatic and semi-automatic lines of technological facilities imported from Europe and Japan. They are all managed by information technology on the basis of the 4th industrial revolution.
The THACO-Mazda Factory is the basis on which all the factories of the industrial park will be upgraded so that the Chu Lai – Truong Hai Auto Mechanical Industrial Zone becomes a model of landscape, environment and even of tourism of Quang Nam province.
At the ceremony, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc acknowledged THACO’s spectacular progresses, especially in science and technology, innovation and creation. It is the reasons for THACO’s occupation of Vietnamese automobile market with a record of USD-3 billion turnover.
He also highly appreciated the THACO’s strategy for increasing the localization rate under the development orientation of the Vietnamese automobile industry, THACO's contributions to Quang Nam province and the country.
