The festival, lasting two days (March 28 and 29) attracted thousands of international and domestic tourists.

At the opening ceremony, Vice Chairman of  Quang Nam provincial People’s Committee Le Tri Thanh said Vietnam-Asia Silk Festival 2016 was a good chance to honour the career in silk reeling and weaving. Hoi An silk village is the Vietnam’s unique representative to become a founding member of the International Silk Association and the Asia Silk Alliance and the host for this festival.

With the theme “Bring traditional silk back to the modern lifestyle”,  various cultural activities were performed and restored by the famous artisans from the craft village in the festival such as the thurification for the Queen of Quang land’s silk, traditional silk weaving methods of the Tan Chau silk village which was once famous for its My A brand, Cham ancient weaving patterns for wedding ceremonies, Cotu traditional brocade weaving, and so on. There was also an exhibition of silk products from many countries (Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, India, China, Myanmar…)

On the opening night on March 28, tourists seemed very satisfied with the fashion show of brocade and silk done by many successful and young designers in Vietnam as well as in the world.
