Compared to the investigation findings in 2018, the number of gray-shanked douc langurs is increasing and their living area is also expanding, which shows that the population of gray-shanked douc langurs in this place is growing well.

According to Fauna & Flora International (FFI), Vietnam is home to about 1,000 douc langurs distributed in the Central and Central Highlands. So, it is necessary to protect them from extinction.
