(QNO) - The exhibition on Vietnam’s island and coastal heritage was opened in Tam Thanh Beach Square (Tam Ky city, Quang Nam province) on June 9.

The exhibition shows the view of Vietnam’s sea and island, daily life in coastal region via the old objects, documents including Han-Nom script, maps, 19 official documents of the reign of Nguyen Dynasty relating to Vietnam’s sovereignty over two archaeologies Hoang Sa (Paracel) and Truong Sa (Spratly), 150 ancient items of Vietnam’s sea and island culture over historical periods, festive costumes, collections of fishing equipment and work tool.

The event also consists of the coastal folk art performances such as Cau Ngu festival, Bai Choi singing, sea products, local sea food.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the event, Vice Chairman of Quang Nam People’s Committee Le Van Thanh underlined the exhibition, a part of the 6th Quang Nam Heritage Festival 2017 aims to honour the cultural values, tourism potentials of Vietnam’s sea and island, contributing to confirm the national scared sea and island sovereignty, responding to the World Environment Day (June 5), World Oceans Day (June 8) and the Vietnam Sea and Island Week 2017.

Participating in the exhibition, Deputy Minister of Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism Vuong Duy Bien said the event aims to introduce the cultural beauty of the Vietnam’s sea and island to visitors at home and abroad.
