(QNO) - A scientific seminar on erosion and anti-erosion solutions to Cua Dai seashore (Hoi An city, Quang Nam province) has just been organized in Hoi An city.
Taking part in the seminar were experts, scholars, managers from France, Japan, leaders of Vietnam’s governmental agencies and localities, representatives from international organizations such as GIZ, AUSAID, KOIKA, KFW, WB, JICA, France and Holland’s Embassies…

At the seminar, Vice Chairman of Quang Nam People’s Committee Le Tri Thanh informed his guests of the serious erosion in Cua Dai seashore in the past time although there were many protection methods from the province’s agencies and people.

The experts discussed the reasons for erosion in estuaries, seaports in general including Cua Dai beach, some experiences to prevent erosion in many countries… Accordingly, construction sites inshore and deforestation were responsible for this erosion.

Also at the seminar, 2 training courses on Cua Dai project were organized consisting the model of open source code TOMAWAC and ARTIMIS presented by Prof. Dr. Michel Benoit (University of Marseille, France); and another was One - line model and the recent erosion in Vietnam’s seashore by Prof. Dr. Hitoshi Tanaka (University of Tohoku, Japan). Meanwhile, Prof.Dr Nguyen Kim Dan from University of Paris, France suggested building dykes or using sands to grow the Cua Dai seashore.
