A conference on implementation of Action Plan to Reduce Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation (REDD+) in Quang Nam in the period 2020 – 2030 has just been held.
Quang Nam province’s leaders, representatives of related agencies and Environmental Protection Specialist for the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Brittany Thomas were taking part in the event.
The Quang Nam REDD+ in the period of 2020 - 2030 is to preserve the existing natural forest area of 466,113 hectares and improve the quality of natural forests through forest conservation, protection and enrichment.
It is also aimed at raising the forest cover up to 61% by 2025. Besides, the project aims to increase the production forest area with certification for sustainable forest management by 2030 with at least 15% of planted forest areas certified by FSC (Forest Stewardship Council).
