(QNO) - Quang Nam province has cooperated with foreign individuals and organizations in conservation and promotion of local heritage, especially Hoi An ancient town and My Son Sanctuary, and economic growth for years.
After more than 120 years of being discovered by the French experts, My Son Sanctuary has partly restored thanks to extremely important contributions from foreign governments, organizations and individuals such as Lerici Foundation (Italy), French and Indian experts, UNESCO, ILO, JICA (Japan), American Express (US), DED and GIZ (Germany), Ambassador’s Funds of Canada, United States and Holland, Italian archaeologists Federico Barocco, Director of Japanese Tani Toshiko Foundation Reiko Usuda and late architect Kazimier Kwiatkowski (1944-1997) from Poland.
It can be affirmed that international cooperation plays an important role in preserving and promoting the values of the two world cultural heritages of Hoi An and My Son through aid, professional training, cultural and people-to-people exchange. The images of Quang Nam province in particular and Vietnam in general become well-known, attracting more tourists.
According to Vice Chairman of the Quang Nam provincial People’s Committee Le Van Thanh, many important external events were sucessfully organized in Quang Nam, making a good impression to domestic and international visitors. They consisted of the Investment Promotion Conference into Quang Nam, the 6th Quang Nam Heritage Festival – 2017, South Korean Cultural Days in Hoi An, the Hoi An - Japan Cultural Exchange Festival, the Quang Nam - Se Kong (Laos) Summit….
