(QNO) - The ceremony of the 20th Anniversary of Death of Kazimierz Kwiatkowksi (1997 - 2017) has just been organized by the city’s People’s Committee of Hoi An (Quang Nam province) and Polish Embassy in Vietnam’s Ha Noi.

Architect Kazimierz Kwiatkowksi (known as Kazik) was born on 2 July, 1944 in a countryside of Lubelszczn province, Poland. In 1963, he graduated from high school and was enrolled in the faculty of architecture of the Cracow University of Technology. He took the degree of Master of Architecture in 1965.

In the early 1980s, Kazik came to Vietnam to take part in the Vietnam-Poland cooperation programme in cultural heritage conservation. He made great contributions to the exploration, research and propagation so that Hoi An was recognized as the Word Cultural Heritage in 1999.

In the period of 1981-1988, Kazik and his colleagues prepared the document for the restoration of more than 30 works in My Son (Quang Nam), Phan Rang (Ninh Thuan), Quy Nhon (Binh Dinh) and other localities. In 1995-1996, Kazik took part in the relic restoration in Hue city. He died of disease on 19 March, 1997 in Hue.

The anniversary aimed to pay respect and admit the great contributions of late architect Kazik to the cultural heritages in Vietnam in general, Hoi An ancient town and My Son Sanctuary in particular.

On this occasion, Polish writer Jacek Zygmunt Matuszak gave nearly his 100 books- “Kazimierz Kwiatkowski – Memory of a special man” to the representatives and those who love late architect Kazimierz Kwiatkowk.
