(QNO) - A 42 million euro project on preventing Cua Dai from coastal erosion has just been approved by the Prime Minister of Vietnam.
Accordingly, the project aims to prevent Cua Dai beach erosion, protect the coast in Hoi An sustainably, facilitate local lives in Cua Dai ward and its surrounding areas.
The total investment capital of the project is 42 million euros (equivalent to over 1,100 billion VND) from the French Development Agency including 35 million euro loan, 2 million euro non-refundable aid and 5 million euro reciprocal capital.
The Quang Nam provincial Management Board of Agricultural and Rural Development Projects is chosen as the project investor by the Quang Nam People’s Committtee.
According to Chairman of Quang Nam People’s Committee Le Tri Thanh, Cua Dai beach has suffered from seasonal erosion and sedimentation since 2004. An about 8km-long Cua Dai coast has been eroded.
The sedimentation takes place in the summer, but the amount of sand is insignificant. Meanwhile, Cua Dai coastal erosion is very serious and alarming.
