Protecting grey-shanked doucs

(QNO) - The Quang Nam provincial People’s Committee and the Truong Son Xanh (Green Annamites) project under the U.S.Agency for International Development (USAID) continue to expand the habitat for the grey-shanked doucs (Pygathrix cinerea).

Accordingly, the total area of the habitat for gray-shanked doucs and biodiversity conservation will be planned to cover an area of 150ha. Earlier, scientists discovered at least 4 herds of about 50 grey-shanked doucs living in 25ha of the natural forest on Hon Do mountain, Dong Co village, Tam My Tay commune, Nui Thanh district.

Grey-shanked douc langur is an endemic species in the Vietnam Red Book and considered as one of the 25 most endangered primates in the world.
