(QNO) - The project on strengthening the role of communities and social organizations in the conservation in the Central Truong Son area of Quang Nam province has been approved by the Provincial People's Committee. It is sponsored by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency through WWF Vietnam.

The project is really significant because it encourages people to participate in forest management and protection, in biodiversity conservation in the mountainous districts of Quang Nam.
The project aims to redouble the local capacity of environmental protection and natural resource conservation. It also helps promote sustainable development, improve local livelihoods, and reduce the pressure on natural resources.
This VND 4.8 billion project will be implemented in the buffer zone of Saola Reserve in Quang Nam province from 2018 to 2022. The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Quang Nam is its manager, who is responsible for setting up the detailed work plans of the project; receiving, managing and using foreign financial assistances; regularly reporting these aids to the Department of Finance, the Provincial People's Committee and other related functional branches.
