At the 20th anniversary of Hoi An ancient town and My Son Sanctuary recognized as the world cultural heritages, Chairman of the Quang Nam provincial People’s Committee emphasized the well- preserved and managed status of heritages, their cultural spaces and the environment around them. Cham Islands world biosphere reserve is one of the typical areas of ecological resource conservation. The heritages have become the bridge between Quang Nam and the world.
The number of visitors to Hoi An and My Son goes up steadily over years. The visitor market is increasingly expanding. As a result, they have made a great contribution to the local socioeconomic development, increasing state budget revenues, implementing social welfare policies, and re-investing in heritage conservation.
A special thing in Hoi An ancient town is that it is a living heritage. The conservation of this heritage is really a challenge faced by Hoi An authorities because it is necessary to both preserve the original and traditional cultural values of the heritage and optimally meet the residents’ needs. Though it is difficult, Hoi An has solved these problems, helping the locals benefit from heritages.

Giving a speech at the 20th anniversary of Hoi An ancient town and My Son Sanctuary recognized as the world cultural heritages, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc supposed that Hoi An and My Son are the pride of not only Quang Nam residents but also all the Vietnamese. Besides, Cham Islands world biosphere reserve is another effort of Quang Nam to preserve marine biodiversity and ecological system. The recognition of Hoi An and My Son as the world cultural heritages and Cham Islands as a world biosphere reserve has encouraged to preserve heritages, bringing heritages into life, and fostering the local socioeconomic development.
