At the ceremony of receiving the ship model, Chairman of the Hoi An city People's Committee Nguyen Van Dung defined Hoi An as a land of cultural exchanges between several countries in the world, among which there was Japan. Hoi An was not only known as the place for the Japanese to do their business but for cultural and political intercourse between Japan and Vietnam. The wedding of Princess Ngoc Hoa and merchant Araki Shotaro was an illustration for a good relationship between two countries. Nowadays, the Vietnam-Japan relations are still kept on and manifested by the annual Vietnam-Japan cultural exchanges happening in Hoi An city and Nagasaki province. Especially, the Vietnam-Japan cultural space will be inaugurated in Hoi An city on the evening of November 11.
