(QNO) - The festival was opened on August 8 in Hoi An silk village, Hoi An city, Quang Nam province with the participation of provincial leaders, representatives of the International Silk Association, domestic and foreign artisans and companies.
At the opening ceremony, Chairman of Quang Nam Silk Joint Stock Company Le Thai Vu said Hoi An silk village was a successive place of traditional silk production and export in Hoi An city 300 years ago. This is the fifth time the festival has been held in Hoi An silk village. The event aims to honour the culture of traditional silk weaving and connect Vietnamese silk to new international markets.
This festival is also for a common development among the world's silk production cities such as Lyon (France), Como (Italia), Kyoto (Japan), Lam Dong, Quang Nam (Vietnam).
The highlight of this festival is the Quang Nam “silk river” located on the axis connecting the two cultural heritages of Hoi An and My Son.
