Houses in Ho Chi Minh City and Hoi An won the category of Residential Architecture – Single family of Architecture MasterPrize.
It is the 6th annual Architecture MasterPrize (AMP)- a global architecture award that recognizes design excellence.
AMP was created to advance the appreciation and exposure of high-quality architectural design worldwide.
The prize celebrates creativity and innovation in architecture, interior design, landscape architecture, architectural product design and architectural photography.
In early November, AMP announced the list of winners.
Accordingly, two Vietnamese projects were named in the category of Housing Architecture – Single family, including A House in Hoi An by lequang-architects company and Villa Tan Dinh in District 3, Ho Chi Minh city by MIA Design Studio.
A House in Hoi An is located in Cam Thanh commune. It is designed not only for a 4-member family but also for autistic children.
The house tends to be introverted, but still has a space for people to communicate with the outside world and develop community relations in their own way.
Besides, the house is built in the post-disaster area, it becomes a completed structure that can deal with monsoon flooding by passive design solution.
It is also working as a community garden where vegetation is used as an educational tool and to provide clean vegetables.
Villa Tan Dinh is designed to create as much space for trees as possible in the context of urban space becoming more narrow and smoggy.
The house looks like a miniature park inside the city. The principal concept is to create a living space above a mini-garden, giving the feeling of walking on bridges.
All the primary activities in the house will be connected throughout empty zone between plants, water and natural light.
Besides, Vietnam won some other awards, including TAA Design’s Tony Fruit Office in District 4 (Ho Chi Minh city) in the Green Architecture category, D1 Architecture Studio’s Hotel le Bouton (Da Nang city) in the Hotel Architecture category, Straw by MIA Design Studio in the Display and Texture category, the Red Cave and The Que in the Entertainment Architecture and Small Architecture categories respectively.
