Tourism model of vegetable gardens

Thanh Dong organic vegetable village becomes one of the attractive destinations in Hoi An after 4 years of operation. Coming here, visitors can not only enjoy fresh atmosphere and safe vegetable but also experience the process of growing vegetable under farmers’ guides. The locals’ income and their lives have been bettered with a big contribution from tourism development.

Thanh Dong village is not the only place in Hoi An to be successful in the eco-friendly agro-tourism model. The vegetable villages of Tra Que (Cam Ha commune) and of An My (Cam Chau) are other addresses succeeding in this model, creating new livelihoods for the residents. It can be said that the vegetable villages become a tourism brand of Hoi An city, Quang nam province.

Sustainable strategy

Hoi An tourism development is planned in the balance of ecological, natural, humane and social environment towards 2020. Tourism should be synchronously developed between the values of cultures, seas and islands, ecology and environment, and traditional craft villages. Cultural tourism, eco-tourism and community-based tourism are prior to develop, turning Hoi An into one of the best destinations of Vietnam and ASEAN by 2020. The plan contributes to the diversification of tourism products, to a reduction of pressure in the ancient quarter of Hoi An, helping to improve the locals’ lives. It speeds up the sustainable development of tourism in particular and of Hoi An city in general.

Besides, a closed linking tourism model is also suggested to meet the elderly’s needs of experience and convalescence here.
