Tourism in Southern Quang Nam becomes more and more popular with visitors for some destinations such as the Vietnamese Heroic Mother statue, Ky Anh tunnel, Tam Thanh mural village, Tam Hai fishing village, and Phu Ninh lake. The coastal road between Hoi An and Tam Ky coming into operation also contributes to tourism development in this area.
In 2017, the number of visitors to Southern and Western Quang Nam dramatically increased. On average over one thousand tourists came to Southern Quang Nam a day. The number is higher on special occasions (i.e. at Tet or other holidays). The 6th Quang Nam Heritage Festival helped raise the number of visitors to Ky Anh tunnel considerably. Besides, the birth of Tam Thanh mural village has attracted more and more visitors, especially the Koreans. In Western Quang Nam, cultural and agricultural products such as Co Tu gongs and Ngoc Linh ginseng have been introduced to the public not only in their localities but also in other places through festivals and fairs. The tourism development in the South and West of the province helps to expand Quang Nam tourism space, reduce the load of tourists in the two world heritages- Hoi An ancient town and My Son Sanctuary, and introduce Quang Nam- a land of cultural diversity to the public.
2017 is considered as a successful year for tourism in the South of Quang Nam. A series of cultural and tourist events held in this area aimed to foster tourism here. They included the conference on tourism investment and exploitation, dialogues with tourism businesses, Quang Nam Heritage Festival, South Korean Days in Quang Nam, and changing the function of An Hoa fishing port to a tourist port.
Tam Ky city is planned to become a tourist center of Southern Quang Nam. At the same time, it functions as a link in the development triangle Tam Ky- Nui Thanh- Phu Ninh and with the Southwestern area. However, it is necessary to build tourism and service products and human resources for a sustainable tourism development in these areas.
